News: Kenya A edge past Herning CC
Posted on June 28, 2006 by Nasir M. Khan
I dont know whether to laugh or cry on Kenya A stadards. Herning CC is not even an elite division Danish club. It is not even the top team in the first division (2nd div).
Kenya A beat Herning by 3 wickets (35 over match)
Herning 136 (33 overs, M Christiansen 45, N Odeja 3-27)
Kenya A 139-7 (32,5 overs, T Mishra 60, M Patel 40*, L Hedegaard 4-12)
Yes, I was about to comment on the match..I guess the stage has come for a Denmark A side to tour Kenya and play against their national team rather than Kenya A playing against Denmark….
Lars Hedegaard (Andersen) played international cricket for Denmark a few years ago, IIRC. So not a bad bowler.
I was more surprised to see them lose to Esbjerg.
Hakon,
Kenya is trying to be the ‘next test team’. I dont think that being unable to face an ex Danish international bowler will go down too well with that claim.
btw… are you based in Denmark?
I think we should wait and see how the matches against Denmark turn out before we call this tour a success or failure. At the end of the day, A team tours are there to provide experience and give yougsters some time in the middle.
If Kenya A can put up a decent performance against Denmark, they will have done better than The Netherlands.
Norway, not Denmark. Take an interest in Danish cricket, however.
Yes, of course Kenya A are miles away from being a Test team. However, Kenya’s first XI is a fair bit stronger, though not much better than that they would be ranked about on a par with the current Zimbabwe side (and Netherlands, Ireland or Scotland).
