News: Porterfield gets County contract….

So now there are 4 Irish players in the county circuit…… not sure if Neill O Brien is still actively contracted, but this is a good omen for the Irish. Incidentally, there are also some young Irish guys playing in the age groups of some of the counties. I have heard that Kevin O Brien is not interested in playing county cricket. Well then how does he plan on making a living with Cricket?

Niall O’Brien signed a one year deal, however there is plenty of interest in him. Its also likely that Gary Kidd, will get a contract somewhere next season. There are five or six players with various academies in England. Shane Getkate and James Hall at Warwickshire are to name just two.
Kevin O’Brien stated that he didn’t want to play county cricket for a couple of years as he is still studying.
It’s great news that William Porterfield has earned a deal and it gives others a chance to step into his shoes if he is unavaliable.
