World Cricket League Div 2, 2011
A few upsets have happenned in this tournament so far. HK beating Uganda, UAE beating Namibia, and PNG beating Bermuda. Interestingly all 3 on the first day of the tournament.
2 things are critical here. Finishing in the top 2 of this league makes you part of the intercontinental cup. I am guessing on for that will be Namibia and UAE. The bottom 2 will get relegated to WCL Div 3, which means they will have it tougher to qualify for ICC Trophy 2013.
We can discuss the rest of the tournament as comments in this post.

As a general comment, I can see that Namibia and Uganda have been stagnating at this level for 5 years now. PNG and HK look to have improved somewhat, while I’m not sure what UAE or Bermuda are doing with all the money they get for development…I’m assuming that the 2013 ICC Trophy (back to being called that!?) will still be held in Scot and that the top 4 from here go through…My guess after the first two rounds is two of Uganda, PNG, Bermuda will likely miss out…
For the last two spots in the IC Cup, I think the ICC mentioned that the two would be ‘handpicked’ based on performances and not necessarily the top 2 finishers…
Actually, I think that HK and Bermuda will miss out. Uganda might be able to beat PNG today and they will both stay in Div 2.
Well the Ugandan team has done it again. They can in some ways be called the South Africa of associate world, in terms of their choking ability.
PNG and HK stay in Div 2. Bermuda is continuing a freefall from ODI status team to now a Div 3 team. I am not sure what criteria ICC was supposed to use for selection into Intercontinental Cup, but it is hard to look past UAE and Namibia now. They were the expected ones anyway.
