The FTCT Cup….

I do not get how the ACC selected the teams for the FTCT Cup (which has recently been renamed the ACC Premier League). Currently, you have UAE, Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore playing. In previous years, my thinking was that they are making the Asian Associates play against each other. But now since Kuwait and Thailand have been added as associates, and they are not playing in the FTCT Cup, I am confused.

Once again, I would have liked the strongest 6 teams in Asia to compete in the FTCT cup. That would not have included Hong Kong and Singapore, but would have included Afghanistan, Qatar, Kuwait instead. I think the problem ACC would have had in that set up would have been that some of these countries do not have turf wickets (Kuwait has 2, Afghanistan 4, but Qatar none). In that case they could have given them the games in UAE, or perhaps only give them away games. Same would have been the case if countries did not want to tour Aghansitan for one reason or another. But making them play lower standard opposition is not exactly going to ‘fast track’ anything.

About league cricket within ACC which u mention, But I’ve different idea. I think the three division of group would be very long process to conduct in early stage & there is not that much vast difference in all members. So, it could be divided into 2 groups where first 8 teams are in group A & remaining is in group B.

After dividing those groups, ACC has to organize league games within, where two teams would be relegated & promoted. And top 6 teams should be selected for the projected Premier league & first top 4 would play with the A level side of member test nation. I would like to prefer first to play with “A” sides rather than direct to test nation. “A” team would be the best choice to play first with. Test nations have always problem about playing dates or their dirty politics. After completion of all tournaments then give them a rank & top two team would select to play with test nations in Asia Cup, in this way the selected team get lots of practice & quality to play with test nation where they could earn a win or reduce their deficit margin. You may have noticed before that in Asia Cup, the associate sides were defeated with big margin which never looks like to play with test nation.

I’ve got another mail from ACC in response of mail but the writer is different.
    Here is the mail

    Dear Mr. Shrestha:
All fair comments and noted with interest.
    Thank you, ACC Media

Are you saying that first they should play an 8 team league, then play another 6 team league, another 8 team league (top 4 of first league and perhaps 4 test “A” teams). Thats 3 leagues in a year. Total number of matches in this manner would be 28+16+28 = 72. And in any case, this format would ‘throw out’ 2 member nations (ACC has 18 member nations)

If they were to play the 3 leagues according to my plan, they would play 45 games in the leagues, and then another 15 games in the A team tournament (4 test A teams and the top 2 teams from the league, or top 2 ranked ones). Thats only 60 games in the year for ACC to arrange, plus it incorporates all members of ACC in a system.

Great to see you finally got a response from ACC. Perhaps I will try to contact you and get the email address and also mail them my brilliant ideas :):)

    oh no!

how could you got me wrong! there i said that first 8 teams in one group & remaining means who left there; 10 teams if they want to play. in this way all would get better exercise. I want to say that top 6 of group one would play premier league( FTCT CUP), not another league which is already in thier list.

I simply sent my mails to acc@asiancricket.org. yesterday, i sent another mail about this regards & showing what ECC got the results after having proper league farmat…
