News: England not to visit Scotland for ODI in 2007

Well, I was expecting that taking the time out to play a solitory ODI against a country that is only 5 hours away by car is not going to be that difficult for England, but apparently it is as England have denied any chances of that happenning.

Yes, this’s disappointing considering that it is just a one-off ODI. With Newzealand already committing to an ODI triseries in Scotland also involving Kenya, there’s still plenty to look for in 2008 in Scottish cricket. Importantly, Cricket Scotland must not allow this to distract their World Cup preparation because a strong World Cup performance is imperative if Scottish cricket is to take that plunge into the top league.

That is sad to hear, because by car it would have been 5 hours, but by plane it wouldn’t have taken much, but as Ram said, there’s still positives to focus on, and and a World Cup to prepare for, so Cricket Scotland shouldn’t get too worked up about this.

A pretty short sighted option by England.
By 2008, Scotland will be a lot more competetive than they are now, and they are already beating county teams fairly regularly.
Hopefully, they will have a rethink on this.

Just read an article on Cricket Scotland website that England have said NO to this ODI in 2007 because of a truncated summer season next year thanks to the World Cup and the Twenty twenty World championship on either side of summer. Probably they might look to play it in 2008!

Ram….. my mistake….. I mistyped 2008 instead of 2007. I have fixed that in the title of the posting.
