News: Blain and Coetzer released by counties for Pakistan ODI….

Fast bowler John Blain and batsman Kyle Coetzer have been released by their counties to play the ODI against Pakistan. Only Dougie Brown seems to be missing from the Scotland side, thoughit has also come to my attention that Moneeb Iqbal plays in the English county circuit as well. I am not sure if he is playing in the Scotland-Pakistan ODI or not, but if he is good enough for the English county circuit, then perhaps he should be. Looks like Gordon Goudie is not going to be released either.

All in all, with Coetzer, Smith, Hamilton, Watson, Blain and Hoffman in the team, they should give a good competition to Pakistan. Once the county championship is over, with Goudie and Brown also coming into the team, it should become a fairly competitive side in the ODI circuit in my opinion.

I saw that article before and left a comment FYI on the “Dougie Brown not to play for Scotland against Pakistan” post of yours but am not able to find my comment under that post now! Anyhow, one hopes that with the availability of these two players, the Scottish resistance against Pakistan can only get stronger..

This’ll be a great benefit to the squad, not just skill wise, but also this news will benefit the morale and confidence of the Saltires as well.
