News: Ireland brushed aside by India….

While you can read the details about what exactly caused the lack of crowd in the game on the Cricinfo article, Ireland would not be satisfied with the game that took place today.

First, looking at the bright sides. Roger Whelan dismissing Tendulkar in the first over, clean bowled, which is not something that has happenned a lot to Tendulkar. Ireland fighting back through the O Brien/Johnston partnership to post a near 200 total. And O Brien’s 50.

Frankly, Pakistan beat World Cup finalists Sri lanka by 99 runs recently when they rested 4-5 of their top players in Jayasuriya, Vaas, Murali, Sangakara and Malinga. Sri lanka returned the favor the next game by a similar drubbing to a Pakistan team that was resting Razzaq, Afridi, Imran Nazir and Sami. So we should perhaps not think that this is the end of world for Irish Cricket when they were blasted by 9 wickets today in the absense of Langford Smith, Rankin, Eion Morgan, Bray and Botha.

A little bit on Morgan. I think the poor guy should be left alone. His performances in the world cup against big 8 teams were quite bad. Maybe he thought that it was better to play the 20 20 games in county than to be dismissed for 5 runs 2 times in the 2 ODIs 🙂 Who knows, but I think people need to accept that he wants to play for England, and move on. The problem has been identified, now try to solve it.
